I'm Ready For My Close Up

Great photographs are essential to completing any type of event. I love when photographers such as Gloria Plunkett Photography captures the personalities of clients without even trying. I have to give her props on this blog, because she is just so outstanding to work with. She shot Cesar and John's wedding this past Saturday (6/21/08), and by Sunday morning, she already had a selection of photos on her blog for the client to preview. That's what I call great service, because it gave the clients something to look at right after their event.

I was with Cesar and John on Sunday, eating breakfast and opening gifts, when my assistant Sarah called to tell me some of their photos where already online...so we all got on the computer and proceeded to Gloria's blog site. When they saw the first photo both just gushed and got teary eyed. They said, "It's so nice to see what their guests saw" and "Gloria really captured our essence."

At any rate, I have used Gloria Plunkett Photography for many of my wedding clients and why is it I keep going back to her besides her wonderful photos and that we love working with each other? It's because she is just a joy to be around and client's say she is like family. She gets to know the clients and knows how to capture those special moments that the client does not even expect.

Reflections of You and Me

One of my favorite items for events are these mirrored candle holders made by Present Time. It adds a new level of dimension to a room and the table setting. I am actually using the 3 arm candle holder and the single candle holder at a wedding today.

What I love about these is that is that they are so versatile. They can be used in casual as well as upscale settings and the cost is minimal. They add depth to a room and helps reflect light as well, a much better solution than those "tired" and "old" mirrored squares or circles that people put floral arrangements or candles on.

The only thing you have to check on is to see if your venue site allows open flames. The candle holders are easy to assemble and they are so sturdy. The three arm measures 42 cm high and 33.5 cm deep. These candle holders come in black mirror also, but I think the classic mirrored look is just perfect.

So for your next event, add some reflection to your centerpieces by adding and mixing things up with these mirrored candle holders.

First Dance...Not the Last.

The first dance seems to be a right of passage for married couples. In modern times, it has reincarnated itself as a way to highlight the couple, some adding their own personality to the traditional dance, by foregoing the slow dance and adding some surprise hip-hop or ballroom moves to this sentimental moment.

Wikipedia states, "Traditionally, the first dance is the Waltz." Well we all know that most couples are not waltzing, since ballroom dancing is no longer a widespread skill, but is making a comeback thanks to Dancing with the Stars. Couples often go to dance studios or hire choreographers to help them with their first dance, and others just have a gift to bust-a-move.

The one question I often get is how to you pick just the right song for it. Well my answer to my clients is to pick a song that signifies you and your love one, or a song that reminds you of each other. It does not necessarily have to be a slow song...if Baby Got's Back has special meaning for you, then go ahead with your bad self and breakout your best MC Hammer moves. There are no limits to your choice of music or genre of dance. Feeling a little bold maybe, you can do a pas de deux from Swan Lake or even a vogue dual to Madonna's 4 minutes (may explain timing in the bedroom and that could be a bad thing).

At any rate, here are my top 10 favorite songs at the moment for the first dance - and yes, they are all slow songs, because I'm a sap!

Fondant - To Eat or Not To Eat - That is the Question

An interesting debate was had as my guests were enjoying the truly scrumptious cake that Christine Dahl created for my wedding day (pictured). By the way, it was a white cake with passion fruit, coconut and butter cream filling. The question was, "do you eat the fondant icing that surrounds the cake or not?"

A little background on fondant according to Wikipedia. "Fondant is a cream confection used as a filling or coating for cakes, pastries, and candies or sweets. In its simplest form, it is sugar and water cooked to a point, specifically the soft-ball stage, cooled slightly, and stirred or beaten until it is an opaque mass of creamy consistency. Fondant is commonly used to decorate wedding cakes. This gives the cakes a smooth appearance." Additionally, most bakers will lavish the cake with butter cream icing before laying the fondant over the cake, so that the fondant can stick to the cake.

For me, I love the taste of fondant, that chewy sugary taste that I just love, you do have to eat it sparingly - in no ways would I buy a tub full and eat it, but I do love the taste with my cake. Others on the other hand peel it off, stating that fondant is just for looks and to keep the cake moist, but it's not to be eaten. In the past, fondant was removed before serving the cake, but cake bakers have come a long way and fondant, to me at least, is very tasty.

Therefore, to my readers I pose this question, "Do you eat your fondant?"

At any rate, I think fondant looks beautiful on cakes and regardless if you are an eater or a peeler, fondant will remain a staple to well crafted and elegant wedding cakes, ultimately it's not about the fondant, but the taste of the actual cake encased inside this sugary confection.

Back and Legally Married!

Well you have been probably wondering why I haven't blogged since last Friday. Well I have been in the midst of planning my wedding, as well as clients, who are getting married on June 21st. I had guests arrive on Sunday and have been entertaining as well.

As of June 17, 2008 at 10:00am (well a few minutes after), my partner, Ross, and I were legally married in the State of California, well actually we got our license around 8am, but the Mayor of Santa Barbara, Marty Blum, officially signed the document and sealed our legal marriage just after 10.

We were married in the Santa Barbara Courthouse Bell Tower that has amazing 360 degree views of the City of Santa Barbara. Along with about 30 friends and family and a slew of media, we said our vows to one another and made it official. There was so much emotion in the bell tower that it's hard to explain the feeling, except for extreme Joy.

We would like to thank Mama's Voices, a local gospel choir, for singing at our ceremony, they sang "Oh Happy Day" as we were pronounced husband and husband and released balloons from the bell tower. Thank you also to Christine Dahl for providing a beautiful wedding cake, our friends who hosted our wonderful and yummy luncheon reception at their home, and our family and friends for supporting our 16-year relationship and for being part of this historical day.

We had our commitment ceremony in 2005 and thought that this would just be a topper to that, but I have to tell you, it was just as fun and emotional. So as I continue to bask in marital bliss, I will end my blog for today on my own wedding.

MTV's True Life Casting for Couples Having Destination Weddings

MTV's True Life is looking for couples 18-28 who are planning destination weddings in July and August 2008! If you are a same-sex or straight couple and fit the age and date criteria and are looking to have your destination wedding shown on national media, this show is for you. If you would like to be on the show, please email married2@mtvstaff.com with your story and your grand plans for your wedding.

True Life employs first-person narrative storytelling to provide a window into the lives of young Americans. To date, the series has explored topics as complex as living with a disorder such as autism or obsessive-compulsive disorder; living in extreme poverty; and being deployed to and returning from military service in Iraq.

Nature's Gift to Your Wedding

Your ceremony setting and decor is just as important as your reception location...if not more so. Most couples who have church weddings don't really have to worry about the back drop, but those who opt for outdoor ceremonies...you really need to scope out your ceremony site for that picture perfect setting.

Sure the ocean and valley views are spectacular. And open spaces can be made intimate with the right set-up and the addition of archways and chupas, but why not use the natural landscape of the location to be the centerpiece of your ceremony? Old established trees, hedges of bougainvillea, or floral gardens can be the much needed punch of panache to set-off your nuptials.

The natural elements of site can be adorned with flowers, crystals, lights and other elements to provide the perfect backdrop to your wedding or leave it in its natural state for a stunning green scene. Take it from me who set this wedding under oak trees to create a beautiful centerpiece and canopy to a couple's ceremony.

Couples, when looking for your ceremony locations, don't look at trees, hedges, or large stones as a deterrent. Rather, look at them as the perfect addition to your location and how they can be utilized to enhance the site. The best things about wedding locations are that they are as unique as you; no two are alike and they can be manipulated to best fit you as a couple. Ben & Jerry's at Your Next Event

A funny thing happened as I was enjoying my Banana's on the Rum at my local Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop the other day. As I took a lick from my creamy confection - I noticed an in-store poster that said, "Let Ben & Jerry's Cater Your Next Event!" A smile formed on my face. My two favorite things - Events and Ben & Jerry's!

Well I have been doing ice cream sundae bars for events for the past few years...its something that I like to do rather than a buffet dessert bar, it's a lot more fun...and there are way more people that enjoy ice cream. However, the thought of a Ben & Jerry's ice cream bar is far more interesting than a no name brand, though I do love to use McConnell's in Santa Barbara as well.

At any rate, I contacted the manager of the store and here's the scoop. The cost is $3.00 - $3.50 per person depending on the number of guests. They bring up to five different Ben & Jerry's flavors of your choice, plus all the little accoutrements to embellish your own ice cream. Additionally, they bring all the cups, spoons, napkins and cones, so it's as if you are walking into your own mini Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop at your own event. There is also a $75 set up fee, which is minimal in the grand scheme of edible fabulousness. Now does that sound yummy or what!

This is perfect for any event, especially a child's birthday party or part of your lounge for your wedding or high-end event. Bring Vermont's Finest to your next shindig and I bet your guests will just think you are the coolest ever!

Ice Ice Baby!

We all know that the hottest trend is having a "lounge" at your wedding, but how cool would it be to do the entire lounge in ice!

Quebec City, Canada and Jukkasjärvi, Sweden have long been known for their Ice Hotels, where both cities take on a handful of artists to create and entire hotel resort out of ice. Both cities usually tie it in to their annual winter festival, but it's been so popular that they are leaving it open all winter long.

Now ice sculptors and other artists are bringing this craft to you and it can be done even in the middle of summer. So how fun would it be to create something so refreshing for your guests. Such companies as Ice Bulb in California can create these masterpieces for you. If you are not down with the entire ice lounge, you can opt to have one or two pieces made for your event, such as an ice bar or even an ice buffet table. This is so much better than those tired old martini luges and ice sculptures that has made its way to too many events.

So if you are looking for a way to cool your guests off during your event, this may be the solution you are looking for.

Tally Ho

Senorita Carolina Herrera has done it again. She has mixed the sensual with the modern in her Spring 2009 Wedding Collection. Her collection is spectacular.

For the 2009 season, she is taking the bride to the country, for some equestrian-esque silhouettes. It's almost Carrie Bradshaw meets Town and Country. I love the use of the hat and bustling of the gown (almost looks like a couture apron). The jacket is just so classic, reminds me of Celine Dion's Dior Backwards Jacket from a few years back ( I think she even wore a fedora) - but this is actually how it should be worn. This look reminds me of a Merchant Ivory Film, timeless beauty.

It seems that many designers for are playing up this look, such as Christian Dior and Monique Lhuillier. Another designer "riding" on the Equestrian Bridal look this season is Santa Barbaran Scott Corridan, Event Designer and Planner, who just launched his signature line of wedding gowns, White Chocolate Label, check out his Heather Gown, which is so chic and lovely. Maybe brides wearing these looks will consider a riding crop made of flowers to complete the ensemble?

Whether you are a "town" or "country" kind of gal, you will not go wrong with these sophisticated looks. To me these gowns signify a confident, well-heeled lady.

Cake Toppers - What's a Gay to Do?

Now that California will legally be recognizing and allowing same sex couples to marry, beginning on June 17, 2008, the flurry of last minute gay and lesbian nuptials are in the planning stages for the summer.

I'm talking about cake toppers today, because I got a call from the Santa Barbara News-Press regarding the increase of wedding business that maybe happening within the next few months, it's estimated that the gay wedding business will top over $370 million this coming year, according to some news sources. One of the questions that was asked by the reporter was...will I be using a two groom topper (as pictured) at a wedding I am planning for June 21st.

First let me say that I hate figurines of any type on a wedding cake...straight or gay. I think there is some "camp" value to it, but in reality I HATE THEM. But if you are a couple that is insistent on using them, consider using one made by Unique Cake Toppers, because theirs at least looks decent and not so plastic, circa 1950s, unless of course you are going with the 50s theme.

When asked this question, I cringed, because I would never use them or suggest them. It doesn’t reflect the bride and groom, groom and groom, or bride and bride. At any rate, I think the cake topper trend is becoming a little passé. Sure, the monograms are great, but in reality the cake itself should be the showstopper...it's traditionally the centerpiece of the reception.

Therefore, if you want my two cents...cake toppers should be an extension of the cake and the couple and should really be designed with the cake in mind. Sticking two figurines on top is just so simple and in reality, it looks so dreadfully dated. Additionally, these figurines tend to be eaten up by the size of some of the cakes that we are seeing lately. SO COUPLES - regardless of your sexual orientation...just say no to the figurines.

In addition, same-sex couples...let's try to limit the number of times we use the rainbow in our wedding decor - I love rainbows, but in reality, it's not that great of a color combination...so let's keep it to nature and to the rainbow flag.

They're Back and Bigger than Ever

If you haven't seen the Sex and the City movie, yet...what are you waiting for? It was so nice to see our favorite BFF's in all their couture glory. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte did not disappoint and the movie actually went beyond my expectations! I did not know how they would translate my girls from the small screen to the big screen, but boy did they.

There was so much eye candy in the movie that it was a little overwhelming, because my mind was going on overdrive from ideas. The wedding sequence where Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, wore different bridesmaid dresses was so wonderful. I am so tired of going to weddings where every bridesmaid wears the same exact dress. Take it from the movie ladies...let your "maids" choose their style, but keep it in your color palette.

I loved all the colors in the movie, from the robin egg blue of Carrie's apartment, to the yellow of Samantha's suit, to the green of Carrie's floral dress and the pink of Stanford's tie. It was just vibrant and it was nice to see shocks of color mixed with the subtle. Every scene had color and that was truly unexpected. So if you are planning a party or event...don't be afraid to try bold colors.

The gowns that Carrie tried on for the Vogue photo shoot were spectacular. The Vera Wang gown was very reminiscent of the grey Dior gown she wore in Paris for the TV shows finale. Additionally, Christian Dior, Lavin, Christian LaCroix, Carolina Herrera and Vivienne Westwood, all delivered some spectacular styles, styling, and silhouettes for the movie. I can't wait for brides to hit the aisles in these outfits...if not just the knock-off versions of them.

So if you are looking for an excuse to see the movie...say you are doing research for your event. There are so many ideas that you can take away from it. I can't wait to see it again!

Let California Ring

Okay so this is not another party blog…but more of a political statement for me. We all know by now that The California Supreme Court has extended marriage to same-sex couples. This must see video is produced by Let California Ring (www.letcaliforniaring.org) and says it all. "Let this moving short; show you how and why we need to spark conversations about the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian couples across California."

Even though the California Supreme Court has voted to okay same-sex marriages...conservative groups and the religious right are trying to put a ballot measure on the November elections to permanently discriminate against gays and lesbians by changing the California Constitution to define marriage as one man and one woman. Why can't marriage just be defined as two consenting adults?

Love is love and no matter what, marriage is bound by the love to TWO consenting adults. Some of the people trying to put this ballot in November is stating that if we allow this, then some people will want to marry their pets or animals or have multiple marriages recognized...this is ridiculous! Marriage should be about the bond of TWO CONSENTING ADULTS, not three or four or five or with animals. What gays and lesbians are wanting is the ability to marry the ONE person that they love, just like heterosexuals around the world. It’s about protecting our families, protecting ourselves, acknowledging that we also have lifelong companions, and not making the LGBT community feel like second-class citizens.

If you live in California, I ask that you vote no against this ballot measure, should it make its way to the November ballots. It’s discriminatory and goes against the saying that “all humans are created equal.” Please keep equality in California at the forefront and help to elevate this to the Federal level. Regardless of your religious beliefs, what I ask from a human perspective is, “how would you feel if you were not able to marry the one person you love?” End of my political statement.

Capture the Moment in a Painting

Eco-Friendly Party Favors

Brides and grooms are becoming more environmentally conscience when it comes to gifting their guests. They realize that most times, favors end up unused or in the garbage. So why not give a gift that is eco-friendly and something that is sustainable and if thrown away will dissolve rather than take up landfill space?

Companies like Greenfeet and Wishingfish, offers numerous environmentally correct gifts such as a garden in a bag. These gifts not only are eco-friendly, but uses materials that are not scarce or can be planted. So when looking for party favors for your guests, check out sites that are dedicated to being earth friendly.

I personally love these gardens in a bag (it comes in a variety of plantings) since they make a beautiful statement when people leave your party. Additionally you can put a message on the bag to convey your thanks to your guests. I think its just unique and its much better than those almond candies or chocolates that everyone else tends to give out. So if you are looking for an alternative party favor...think green and look at things that can give back to the earth.

From High Above to Down Below - Unique Venue Spaces

In an earlier blog, I mentioned a new venue called Dinner in the Sky that raises a group of people 50 meters or 164 feet above the earth, to dine. Well unique venues are popping up all over the place and people are only limited to their preconceived notion of what's the right place for a dinner party...and some people are really getting creative.

In London, crafty party throwers are abandoning the "usual" places to throw a dinner party or event and have resorted to some extreme if not strange venues. For instance, people are renting parts of the Underground (subway) to have their dinner. Unusual...definitely, unique...most absolutely. I love this out of the box thinking. Creative party throwers are no longer limiting themselves to the same old boring places. They are putting a signature to their events and really giving people something to look forward to and an experience they will always remember.

Additionally, companies like Dinner in the Sky are giving party throwers options for venues that are mind-blowing experiences. Another company called BBQ-Donut offers clients a floating donut (looks like a huge inner tube) on which they can sit around and have a barbeque dinner on. The grill is located in the middle of this floatation marvel and guests can either cook their own meat or have a chef cook for them, ala Benihana. Think large fondue party in the middle of a lake. Their motto is “grill and chill” and it definitely lives up to those expectations. BBQ-Donut will literally transport this dining tube to any body of water you want. So look out for these innovative companies, because they will be coming to a city near you and offering new dining and event experiences.

So all you party throwers out there, be creative in choosing your location. Open up your minds to all the possibilities and look at event spaces as a back up rather than the right place to be. I can't wait to throw a party in an unusual location...maybe on a 20x20 raft on the middle of the lake or how about a parking garage with awesome views. My theory is if you have awesome food, wonderful company, and great libations, who cares where you are! Let’s just have a great time.

I Do to These Unique Rings

I love unique things and these rings are definitely in that category. My friend Jolene at Here Comes the Guide mentioned them to me over the weekend and gave me a link to the Shibumi Gallery Website to check out all the fabulousness.

Shibumi Gallery, owned by April Higashi, represents several artists specializing in "artful commitment and wedding rings." They all have a unique perspective on what a wedding/commitment ring should look like, but the one thing they have in common is great artistry. I love the use of raw diamonds in some of the designs! These are definitely for the couple that wants their union to stand out from the crowd.

I love all the artists on the Shibumi Gallery site and can't really say which one is my favorite, because in reality, I would wear any of these artists designs (hint hint to the artists: My partner and I who have been together for 16 years are legally getting married on June 16, 2008 and would love one of them). Percy on Style Network's Peter Perfect

Well you've heard me blog about these two before, but now you can watch how celebrity stylist Peter Ishkhans transforms a local cake bakery, For Heaven's Cakes, on Style Network's smashing new show Peter Perfect.

This is currently one of my favorite shows, not only because I will be on one of the episodes, yes I am on the Let Them Sell Cake episode, but because Peter Ishkhans really has great vision on transforming these businesses and setting them on the path to success.

Peter Perfect airs on the Style Network at 9pm ET/PT and 8pm CT, and is produced by 44 Blue Productions. The show that I will be on premieres Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 24, 2008. I am not sure what scope I will be on...since I have not seen the episode, but I will be towards the end of the show (if I make the cut/editing)...after the reveals. Marriage Equality in California - FINALLY!

SAN FRANCISCO: In an historic decision today, the California Supreme Court ruled that same-gender couples deserve the freedom to marry under California law. The landmark ruling makes California the first state in the nation to give lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people full equality. (From Equality California)

This is very exciting news, not just because it provides all couples the freedom to marry, but it shows that all couples in love have the ability to marry legally if they chose to.

For my partner, Ross, and me, we have been together 16 years; now we have the opportunity to legally wed. In 2005, in celebration of our 13th anniversary, we had a commitment ceremony and celebration that was attended by 170 of our closest friends and family. This act of commitment came with no license and no legal protections. We are registered domestic partners...which do not have the same benefits and safeguards that a legal marriage provides.

Now in a smaller ceremony, Ross and I will take the plunge to be one of many same-gender, committed, and dedicated couples to marry in California within the next 30 days. I feel so happy that our partnership will now be legally recognized as a solemn marriage in the State of California. Now we are hoping that one day it will be recognized on a National/Federal level.

This is definitely one small step to marriage equality; we still have a lot of work to get it recognized on a Federal level. California is the second state, next to Massachusetts, to recognize same-sex marriages as legal, but the first to recognize same-sex marriages regardless of residency.

For all you other same-sex couples, if you need a wedding planner...look no further and call me! I am ready to plan the most memorable wedding for you...I know, you're gay and you can create the "fabulousness" yourself, but trust me you want someone to manage your day, so that you can enjoy it.

This has nothing to do with events or a party, but it is one of the best videos/documentary I have seen in a long time.

Holy Costume Party Batman!

The annual Costume Institute Gala at The Met in NYC is definitely one of the best red carpet events of the year. This year the Costume Institutes' exhibit is titled: Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. The lucky invitees to the annual gala, held on May 7, 2008, sure had a great time dressing up for the event, some in their best superhero couture.

I have to say that my favorite "wonder woman" of the evening was Christina Ricci...in this breathtaking, sexy, and stunning Givenchy (pronounced gee-von-she) gown. Givenchy has taken the required female superhero bathing suit and graciously draped it with silk organza creating a peek-a-boo effect. The red with pale pink is just gorgeous. I think this dress really captured the evening's theme as well as highlighted the institutes' exhibit.

Illuminate the Night

I am loving LED lit event tables and seating. Especially because they have functionality and add to the ambiance of any event. Lit up table bases and chairs are so hip right now, because they give the party throwers many possibilities. They also help with lighting indoor and outdoor venue spaces.

The latest, like this ice (really made out of ice) table base from PBG Events, runs on a remote controlled LEDs and has no cords. So event planners or hosts can control the light that is being illuminated or even change the colors of the party as the evening moves on.

Other event rental companies also have everyday use bases and chairs that can be illuminated without the worry of something melting, such as these cubes by Miami based Bubble Collection. They also carry such items as LED lit couches that will stay lit for 6-8 hours. Therefore, when looking for modern and innovative settings, ask your rental companies about their LED lit furniture.

Found: One Glass Slipper

Talk about fairy tales! This glass, okay crystal encrusted, slipper will definitely make any female going to a ball feel like Cinderella...seems like I have been talking about this Cindy chick a lot lately.

When I saw this must have sling back in a magazine, I knew I had to post it on my site. It is so Drew Barrymore in Ever After. Peter Ishkhans is Peter Perfect

"Style-nista" Peter Ishkhans has a new show on the Style Network, and I absolutely love the concept of this reality show. It premiered on April 19, 2008 and it has been a weekly must watch at my home...so far.

The concept is sort of Extreme Home Makeover meets Extreme Makeover but for struggling businesses and their owners. He totally redesigns the business inside out, gives the owners a new look, and gives these individuals a new outlook to their business lives. It's pretty amazing how these businesses transform and how the owners really start to think about their company in a new way...the Peter Perfect way.

In the show, he plays not only designer and stylist, but also a therapist at times. He is not afraid to experience what these individuals do for a living and rolls up his sleeves to learn from them. I think that is why the show works, he really "experiences" how these companies must function on a daily basis.

For party throwers, the show offers some great color ideas and design concepts. Peter's keen sense of mixing modern with vintage is outrageous. He surely can take some vintage wallpaper and make it look now. The show also gives you an insight to some great hair and clothing styles. Peter really likes the rock-n-roll vibe so you get some cool edgy styles to inspire your own look.

So far this season, it's the premiere season of the show, he has revamped a dog grooming business and a candy shop. This weekend his challenge is a gourmet coffee business. So tune in Saturdays at 9pm EST/PST to the Style Network to experience Peter Perfect which is produced by 44 Blue Productions. I can't wait to see what he does next. Redefining Fairytale Weddings

Every bride wants the fairytale wedding...and why shouldn't she? It's there day to go all out and be the princess at the ball. Bridal couture guru, Reem Acra, has taken this fantasy to a new level, adding bold colors and concepts to the traditional bridal gown. Why not be the mad hatter or couture country bumpkin at your wedding? Not every bride will be as edgy to take a traditional gown to a whacked out new level but for some of you this is right up your alley.

I love these looks, not from a practical point but from one of inspiration. I think every bride can take some hints from these photos. Don't be afraid to add color to your day. A trend that we have been seeing lately is the colored sash being added to the gown, but a colored shrug, a bold hat, or couture apron...what a concept! This will definitely differentiate you from other brides and bring out that special something something to your wedding day.

Wedding Season is Here

Well the wedding season will open in just a couple of weeks! Memorial Day is the official launch to the multiple matrimonial events you have an invite to.

The bridal party is set, chosen all their fabulous attire, and ready to walk down the rose covered aisles. However, are you feeling a little like Cinderella, invitation in hand...but no concept on how you will glam yourself up?

Dream of Being a Star?

Have you ever wanted to be a TV star? Well if you are a bride or a groom, Reality TV has several opportunities for you to be on the boob tube.

44 Blue Productions is currently casting for a new show called Made of Honor. They are looking for brides and their bridesmaids to participating in identifying whom the lucky girl or guy should be the Maid of Honor - so brides you should have no clue who the MOH will be. The bridesmaids will compete for the honor of serving you. The couple should live in the greater Los Angeles area and be between the ages of 21-35 and it must be the first marriage. The other producers currently casting is Brand New Entertainment and they are casting brides and grooms for a show called First Dance, where you will surprise your guests with a non-traditional first dance. Disposable Dresses

Have you seen the movie 27 Dresses? There were some outlandish and horrifying bridesmaid dresses in that movie, but this tops them all. Talk about burning the hideous bridesmaids' dresses after wearing them. These you can literally "pop!" While these designs are not at all practical or attractive, I have to applaud the balloon artists for their creativity and stretching the possibilities of what one can do with a balloon.

If the bride herself chose to wear one of these blow-up couture...the groom should have a really good time "taking" off the wedding dress during the honeymoon night. Talk about festive endings. And just think if she hated an aspect of her gown, all should would have to do is pop it and blow up another concoction.

So will these balloon dresses be a new trend we see sashaying down the aisles? I hope not!
